XBL Indies: A Robots Conundrum

The real conundrum is whether this game deserves your money or not.

A Robots Conundrum is a puzzle-platformer where you play as a robot trying to get a box safely to the end of each level. The game contains 30 campaign levels for solo or co-op play, 15 versus levels, and a decent level editor. A Robots Conundrum has its moments, but the ride is short and there isn’t much reason to come back after you’ve beat the game.

A Robots Conundrum is a relatively simple puzzle game that sticks to the same formula throughout all of its 30 levels. Some levels can be a bit challenging, but you’ll never feel too stuck in any situation. Co-op mode does add a bit of strategy and the versus mode can be fun, but after you’ve played a level once, you won’t have much reason to play it again.

The graphics are very clean and plain, but they do fit well with the game’s overall vibe. The level editor is a nice addition, but it’s not the most user-friendly editor and there isn’t much reason to use it. The fact that you can’t trade levels through XBL essentially makes level-creating pointless. Why would you want to solve a puzzle that you created?

A Robots Conundrum is a decent game and not a bad value at its low price. The game is a bit short and the lack of level sharing really hurts the replay value. It may not be the greatest XBL Indie game you play, but it’s still a solid game. If you enjoy the occasional puzzle then I think you’ll enjoy A Robots Conundrum.
