Red Faction: Guerilla

I was a huge fan of the original Red Faction and it is actually one of my favorite console FPS games of all time. A "sequel" came out, but it was absolutely horrible and a complete disaster. This new game seems to be going back to where the first game left off, continuing the story and hopefully bringing the series back to it's original glory. I don't have much to say right now because my mind has been wandering quite a if there are voices in my head. The voices do sound quite similar to a few people I know(Rob, Kado, Bru...). I wonder what that could mean...

GTAIV Get's Whacked, I Meant Patched

A patch for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV has been released today and it fixes a few minor problems. These fixes mainly pertain to the online component of GTAIV and fix issues such as: improving PS3 leaderboads, changing the lobby countdown timer, among other fixes/changes.

The list can be found here.

Make Your DS Musical

Korg DS-10 for the Nintendo DS

I saw this video as part of the 1UP Show and found it to be quite interesting, especially to a musician like myself. I would never have imagined that the DS would be capable of something like this. This software basically turns the DS into a fully functional synthesizer. Right now there isn't a release date for the States, but I can hope...and if that doesn't work I can just import. For more details just take the jump and watch the video!

Playstation Whore

Some PSP games have found their prices increase after the latest PSN update. Something like this should never happen. This is something that Gamestop would do if the demand for a game increased. Though the games that received the higher prices aren't even new. In some cases the game aren't even good, not even burnt sausage good. Gangs of London got bashed by critics, but for some reason Sony thinks it warrants an $11 raise in price. Not every game saw a price change and one game actually got a $10 decrease: The Con. I wonder if Sony is trying to tell us something with that. Anyways here is the list of changes thanks to Kotaku.

The PS3 and Installs

Linkage to Crap.

"SSDs are perfect for notebooks because they're light, they don't consume a lot of power, and they give off very little heat. The good news is that you can slide those same 2.5-inch solid state notebook drives right into a PlayStation 3. We got our hands on a 60GB SuperTalent Master Drive MX SSD to see how it performs in a PlayStation 3. The $400 60GB Master Drive MX specifications state that it has 120MB/s read speeds, but its write speeds cap off at 40MB/s. By comparison, we tested the stock PlayStation 3 hard drive and observed 32MB/s read and write speeds. The MX drive doesn't match up to the 120MB/s reads and the blistering 70MB/s writes of the more expensive $1,300 Super Talent 60GB Master Drive DX, but some upgrades get more difficult to justify when the PlayStation 3 itself costs only about $400."

The basic idea behind this particular article is about whether it's worth getting a new HD for your PS3 to quicken load times etc. I honestly don't care if there was some magic hard-drive that took out all load times and maybe baked me a nice cake at the same time. The PS3 is a console and if I wanted to spend the time upgrading a system and changing components to try and get better performance then I would go back to my PC gaming days. I must say that I do miss them.
