My Love/Hate Relationship with Himouto! Umaru-chan

Oh, Himouto! Umaru-chan, I love you...

...but I hate you, too.

If y'all haven't been watching Himouto! Umaru-chan--one of the many new Summer series--let me give you a brief description: brother lives with teenage sister; sister is perfect and amazing and just the best when not at home; when at home, however, sister is an incredibly deformed--shrinks to roughly the size of a normal human head--super-otaku who manipulates the hell out of her brother to get whatever she wants; brother, while he may verbally complain, always gives in; the end.

Ok, my description probably sucked, but Himouto! Umaru-chan is quite the ridiculous show that revolves around a girl who has two very different sides--a seemingly perfect public face and the exact opposite when in the privacy of her own home--and is quite kawaii, regardless of which face she's showing. I love watching Umaru transition between an almost-idol and the most annoying, demanding little sister anyone could ever not hope for; however, my love of this dies about halfway into every episode--the two that have been released at the time of this writing--because, when I hit the halfway point, I start becoming annoyed with her terribly annoying nature as if I was her brother, forced to deal with her because, well, family is family and sometimes you just have to deal with it. Except she's not my sister, I'm not her brother, and I can turn off the show whenever I want, so, what I am supposed to do?

There is no simple answer, except to say I will continue watching Himouto! Umaru-chan for now, but I truly believe the series would work much better as a short, with 12-minute episodes instead of the more typical 24-minute episodes. Maybe I'll change my mind as more episodes come out and the story progresses, but right now I'll continue loving and hating Himouto! Umaru-chan like only a crazy person can.

*(Important Note: I am a crazy person.)
