Avatars on the Edge is a game where you skate across rooftops that look an awful lot like the ones found in Mirror's Edge, and those rooftops are the best part of the game. Now, that's not to say the rest of the game is bad, but the visuals are definitely the high note in this otherwise rather average game. The racing is okay and the controls are fine, but there's nothing exciting and the stunts--which should be exciting--exist only for building up boost. If you can't already tell, I didn't particularly enjoy this game, but if like what you see in the video below, I'd recommend checking it out because myabe, just maybe, you'll find what I found elusive in this game: fun.

Pixelated Playtime: JamSouls ! (XBLIG)

JamSouls ! is the opposite of many great XBLIG: from the outset, it looks like an amazing game with a lot of promise, but once I started playing the game, I wanted nothing more than to stop. JamSouls ! is absolutely beautiful and screams casual-esque, party fighting game--think Super Smash Bros. and please don't leave any passive-aggressive comments regarding my referring to SSB as a more casual fighter (just be aggressive)--but then the gameplay decides to take a dump on everyone's face, or, more accurately, jumps on everyone's head. That's right, the default attack in JamSouls ! is jumping on opponents' heads and it feels awful. But maybe that's just me, maybe you'll enjoy all the jumping on heads, in which case I'll say, check out this game because it is fantastic at everything other than when it comes to actually playing of it.

Did you play Slender? Did you enjoy yourself? Did you wonder, "Oh boy, this sure would be better if it had a medieval-esque theme and demons instead of a skinny white guy with no face!" If you said yes to these questions, The Monastery is the game for you because it is basically Slender with a different theme. It's not as good, but it isn't horrible, so it's worth checking out if you're a fan of survival horror games. Fun fact: skinny white guys are scarier than demons.

Pixelated Radio 54: Stars Suck and Make Us Want to Cry

Pixelated Playtime: The Blitz (XBLIG)

The Blitz is a game where you try and level cities by dropping bombs on buildings. It kind of plays like a reverse version of Centipede, where you bomber moves on its own from the top of the screen, slowly moving from left to right, dropping a level every time the bomber leaves and reenters the screen. It could have been alright, but the game is slow as hell and there is no way to speed up the bomber. The only part I kind of enjoyed was the music, but that's no reason to buy a game. Anyway, check out the video below and see the boredom for yourself.

Do you like zombies? What about guns? How about shooting zombies with guns? If you said yes to one, two, or all three, you may just like a little game by the name of Zombie Splatter. The demo doesn't let you play around with much, but if you're into fighting off hoards of zombies with devices that propel hollow metal objects filled with explosive material forward, Zombie Splatter may just satisfy a hunger in your belly for brains; and a buck isn't too much to pay for zombie-groaning action. (Have you tried buying brains on the black market? It's not cheap.)

Guess what: I don't smoke pot. Guess who: Name rhymes with poo. Guess when: The clocks are in. Guess why: Blame it on the pie. Guess how: It involves killing a cow. I've started these posts with weird introductions before, but this is an all-time new low of nonsensical garbage, but who cares, right? No one actually reads this crap, right? No one cares that I'm ending a third consecutive sentence with "right," right? Of course you, and you, and you don't care. Me too. Gotta poo.

Looking for a high quality platformer for a ridiculous price? Then Little Acorn Deluxe is exactly what you're looking for. The game has the looks, the goods, and something else that rhymes, like wood--which comes from trees, as do acorns. Boom! I just won. But you could find a winner in this here game as it's really quite good and only 80 MS points.
