Steam Summer Sale: 07/22/12

Today's the last true day of Steam and I'm a little underwhelmed. I was expecting something huge, but what I see is a relatively mild case of the deals—a lot of repeats and a lack of something extra special as an endcap to the big ol' sale. It's really just a case of, "Well, if you missed their earlier sales you now have a second chance (or third) to pick 'em up," and nothing else.

This should come as no surprise, but if you haven't picked up Bastion or the Double Fine Bundle you really should. Bastion is a lovely game with beautiful visuals and one of my favorite endings of the past few years. All the games included in the Double Fine Bundle are some of the studio's best work and a steal at only $7.49. And while I'm saddened by the lack of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow on Steam, the "Elite Echelon Edition" pack—which includes every Splinter Cell game other than Pandora Tomorrow—is still a great deal for a bunch of great games.

Steam Summer Sale: 07/21/12

Today is the day you've all been waiting for, the day Steam's Summer Sale bumped Arma II: Combined Operations discount as part of day ten's daily deal. Arma II is the most wanted PC game these days, the most wanted game that no one actually wants to play; instead, everyone's looking to buy the game just so they can play the mod called DayZ, the mod that will surely make me crap my pants as an admitted pussy when it comes to scary games.

Other than the one game everyone's had their eye on, today's daily deal has some other nice deals for those who missed them previously or just needed some more time to think before pulling the trigger. I have yet to play Quantum Conundrum, but I've heard mostly good things and it is from one of the minds behind the original Portal, Kim Swift. If you've missed out on a little or a lot of Prince of Persia, the entire series is 75% off and that's a damn fine deal for a bunch of great games. And though many were disappointed—even me—I still found plenty to enjoy in Fable III and that's on sale for 75% off as well.

Steam Summer Sale: 07/20/12

Day nine of Steam's Summer Sale is full of reasons to high five as I continue to rhyme for an extended period of time. Jokes aside, I'm finding it hard to be cheerful after what happened in Colorado, but c'est la vie and what a life it is. Anyway, just as life doesn't stop in tragedy, neither do sales and Steam has a bunch of new games at higher discounts for your bargain hunting pleasure; though, "new" may be a bit of an overstatement as many of today's deals are deals seen over the past week in various forms—like "Flash Sales" or in the "Community's Choice."

Like I've said before, if you've missed the previous sales there are some great games for cheap in today's collection of games and franchises. Civilization V is great and there's really no need to need to describe the game because if you're interested in the slightest you already know what it's all about. Deus Ex (the original) is one of my favorite games of all time and I'm one of the few who genuinely enjoyed Invisible War; well, Human Revolution had a lot to live up to and it did all that and more as far as I'm concerned—a.k.a., buy it first and thank me second. And unlike yesterday, today's indie bundle is full of great games but, like always, they're games you might already own.

Steam Summer Sale: 07/19/12

Day eight of Steam's Summer Sale is here and eight kind of rhymes with day. (I'm grasping at straws here.) The deals today are nice though we've seen some twice at their current sale price. The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings is a must-play for fans of RPG games, especially those looking for a more adult story. Alan Wake is a brilliant atmospheric action game, but don't expect many scares. If you want scares, check out Amnesia: The Dark Descent and never finish it like me.

There's a lot to ponder and money to waste, just look for a game that suits your taste. (I'm apparently in a rhyming mood.) The indie bundle for this day is alright, but I don't find it too enticing compared to past bundles. Honestly, I'm waiting for the last day in hopes that Arma II: Combined Operations gets a special discount just so I can watch Steam break all over itself.

Steam Summer Sale: 07/18/12

It's day seven of Steam's Summer Sale and seven rhymes in heaven—which is where you'll be if you spot a game or two you want and haven't pulled the trigger on just yet. (Yeah, I'm kind of ashamed by that one too; pleasem take your time in recovering from that "sense of humor.") Now that you're all better now, let's return to the topic of Steam and what fancy schmancy games they have on sale as part of today's daily deal.

There are some repeats—which is to be expected—but I'm quite happy with the variety on this seventh day of sales and I'm especially happy to see Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, Age of Empires Online, and the awesome Indie Bundle VII (that is, if you haven't bought all the games included already).
