LTTP: Lost Odyssey - Part 2

I’ve spent much more time with Lost Odyssey since my last writing, twelve more hours to be exact, and overall I’m still enjoying the game. There really hasn’t been much change to mention, besides to changing from disc 1 to disc 2 of course. I also must say that I would gladly pay for some DLC that gave Kaim (the main character) a new, extra special item: a comb. Seriously, how does he keep that strand of hair so perfectly positioned in the middle of his face at all times? I bet he could make a fortune endorsing the hair product he uses.

I’m now just over eighteen hours into Lost Odyssey and thus, fairly deeper into the story. The story that is delivered through cut-scenes is decent for the most part and does occasionally have those “OMG” moments, but overall it’s nothing groundbreaking. There is one specific moment that I really loved and I don’t want to give anything away, but I’ll just give a name: Lirum. I really loved how that part of the story unfolded, but I still find the text-only dream sequences to be much more interesting.

The dream sequences are still the best story elements of Lost Odyssey, but I am starting to have a few problems with these sequences. As much as I love reading these stories and learning more about Kaim, the dreams happen a tad bit too frequent and end up hurting the overall flow of the game. Some dreams can be very long and may take up to twenty minutes to read. While I enjoy most of these readings, I also want to actually play the game. This is just a minor issue, but it’s still something that you should be aware of if you decide to pick up Lost Odyssey. I also experienced my first dream relating to someone other than Kaim which was a welcome surprise and hopefully a sign of more than just Kaim dreams down the road.

The combat hasn’t really changed at all and obviously the game still looks nice, though the characters have some pretty f***** up eyes when shown during the in-game cut-scenes. The music is still pretty good, but I don’t feel as in love with it as I did during my first hours with the game. All I can say is that I’ve put just over eighteen hours into this Lost Odyssey in the past four days and I still look forward to playing it every day.
