Review: Being Human (TV) - Something to Watch Over Me

Another Monday passed, and another episode of Being Human has been consumed. This is the first episode since the two-part introduction and thankfully, the show is managing to keep me invested like it's Apple stock. For the most part, the show has continued in the direction of prior episodes; however, this week's episode, "Something to Watch Over Me," had some extra light and humorous moments.

These occasional changes in mood are actually a welcome addition. As much as I enjoy the serious take on the subject matter, I also don't want to watch a group of monsters mope around as if their local theater sold out of every ticket for the newest Twilight movie. Watching a character experience a moment of joy is a great way to break up the majority of despair.

There is nothing better than a vampire who cares about dental hygiene.

Onto some specifics, we had double the ghosts and a bit of the past colliding with the present. Sally was introduced to another ghost -- a ghost who died in the eighties -- and this ghost [Tony] taught her how to love, feel, and be a real woman. Actually, he just helped her learn to move around via thoughts and leave the house; no big deal. Throwing my sarcasm away, this short-lived (get it) relationship worked surprisingly well and I was entertained by their interactions.

The other focus revolved around Aidan -- Josh was in plenty, but didn't feel as important -- and a man from his past. Now things get tricky as I don't want to spoil too much, but know that everything wraps up in a way that will continue to fuel Aidan's struggle with his curse. I really enjoyed this storyline and was partially surprised by the roads it took to reach its destination. Another episode over, and another reason for Aidan to be the most depressed of all the depressed characters.

I am happy to see the show is still going strong after its extended introduction and find myself wanting more and more. The rest of this week's episode involved a neighborhood watch group and Josh was stuck helping the team, which lead to some struggles with control. But, it also allowed for some lovely awkward moments thanks to a little lady in glasses. Just know that there is a sexual assault in this country every two minutes.
